Digital nomads, the new generation

The term digital nomads, the new generation of professional workers who carry out their work behind a computer from anywhere in the world, is already well known and Marbella is undoubtedly a very attractive destination for them.

For any citizen belonging to the European Union who has the possibility of working remotely, Marbella is one of the most attractive destinations due to its infrastructures, quality of life and its proximity and good communications with the rest of Europe.

Spending long periods of time in a place like Marbella, even if you continue to work, is a privilege because once your working day is over you can enjoy all the leisure activities, good weather and cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Also, any non-EU citizen has this possibility thanks to the new regulations that came into force in January of this year 2023, once a series of requirements are met in the Law 28/2022, of 21 December, to promote the ecosystem of emerging companies of which I leave a direct link https://www.boe.es/diario_boe/txt.php?id=BOE-A-2022-21739

Previously, non-EU digital nomads could stay in Marbella for a limited period of time, three months, with a tourist visa that does not allow them to work in Spain. However, since January this year, with the creation of the new visa, they have been offered the possibility to enter Spain, stay and work remotely for their company based in a country outside the European Union for an initial period of one year, extendable up to five years.

It is a measure that undoubtedly offers those who apply for it and meet the requirements a series of advantages, not only with regard to the visa, but also in terms of taxation and speeding up the paperwork.

Marbella is an ideal destination for digital nomads

Among those who take this decision to telework from Marbella, there are those who prefer to rent a home to live alone or with their family, but there are also those who seek accommodation with other digital nomads, sharing not only work space (coworking) but also living and leisure space (coliving).

Marbella is undoubtedly an exceptional place that has all the essential characteristics for this new generation of professionals who not only want to work, but also enjoy life with quality.

Good communications both internally and internationally due to the proximity to the international airport of Malaga, high speed internet connection, all the basic services, an incredible leisure offer with marinas, first class shopping centres, a wide variety of restaurants, nightlife areas, multicultural activities, outdoor activities both on the beach and in the mountains and all year round thanks to the exceptional climate, make Marbella the ideal destination.
