La Zagaleta

The La Zagaleta urbanization is a gated community with 24-hour security, where privacy is a requirement and tranquillity assured. It has two golf courses set in virgin nature, which means you can expect to come across deer, mouflon and mountain goats during your game. The range of sports also includes an equestrian centre, tennis club and three well-established hiking trails. The urbanization clubhouse offers its members a bar and restaurant service, private meeting rooms and a swimming pool.

Geographically, La Zagaleta has a raised position, behind Marbella. This gives it spectacular views of the local area, Mediterranean coast and even Africa. On a large plot, set among pine and cork oak, next to La Zagaleta and very near La Heredia, you’ll find El Madroñal, a gated urbanization, with six entrances and 24-hour security.

This is one of the oldest urbanizations on the Costa del Sol. It has always been popular among those looking for country living, with a city nearby.

La Heredia

Another of the “founding” urbanizations in the area is La Heredia. Development began there in the 80s, led by the Parladé family, which constructed the first phase, capturing the essence of the white villages that are so characteristic of this region. This first phase is predominated by charming corners, antique doors and rustic constructions, always with marvellous views of Morocco and Gibraltar.

Following this, the second phase of La Heredia fell into the hands of the Dutch group La Perla, which finished the complex during the 90s.

The Los Arqueros urbanization, to the south of La Zagaleta, has its own 18-hole golf course designed by Severiano Ballesteros, offering a blend of villas in different styles, with low-rise residential apartment buildings like Las Jacarandas, La Torre, Los Almendros, Los Pinos, Los Naranjos, Los Olivos, Las Terrazas, El Alto, Los Balcones, La Finca, El Lago, Avalon, Arrayanes Golf, Los Robles, Las Encinas and Los Eucaliptos, each with its own individual style and design, and all with magnificent views of the coast, golf course and meticulous gardens.

At the centre of the urbanization, you’ll find the clubhouse of Los Arqueros golf course, which offers café and restaurant services, a golf shop, a gym, a children’s area and changing rooms.

La Alqueria Benahavís and Capanes Sur

Continuing south, La Alquería Benahavís is a serene residential area located to the north of Atalaya golf course, which is surrounded by Mediterranean villas in a contemporary style.

Next to La Alquería Benahavís, to the east, is the Capanes Sur area, where, like in Los Arqueros, you’ll find a mixture of villas and Mediterranean-village complexes. In the latter category, worthy of special attention are the urbanizations Lomas del Marques, Las Lomas del Conde Luque and Gazules del Sol, each with its own well-defined, individual style.

These two areas, La Alquería and Capanes Sur, are in continual growth owing to their position near Benahavís and San Pedro Alcántara.
