The best areas to buy a property on the Marbella Golden Mile

22 Mar 2018 | Areas Guide

The Marbella Golden Mile, when it was first developed, back in the 1980s, was the name given to the coastal area between Puerto Banús and the city of Marbella. Over time and as a result of urban development, it has increased in size, extending towards the mountain. It’s now bordered by beach and mountain, and both are home to the best places to buy a property on the Golden Mile. Let’s explore them.

Where to Buy a Property on the Marbella Golden Mile

Casablanca

At the start of the Golden Mile, going from Marbella towards Puerto Banús, on the beach side, you’ll find the area known as Casablanca. It comes after the renowned Alhambra del Mar apartment complex.

Casablanca is characterised by luxury frontline villas, with some that boast direct access to the beach. They enjoy a privileged location, near everything, including the city of Marbella, and with access to the road to Puerto Banús, with its wide range of services.

The properties at Casablanca go from small plots with charming, coquettish villas, to sumptuous mansions built on large stretches of land. Developers have maintained balance there, in both design and planning.

Las Cañas Beach

Following on from Casablanca, Las Cañas Beach apartment complex is an urbanization that starts at the beachfront and runs perpendicular to it, up to the road to Puerto Banús.

Its quality apartments and penthouses, with 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms, have gardens, a swimming pool and a sensational location. The renowned Trocadero Playa beach bar is just a short walk away.

Santa Petronila and Santa Margarita

You’ll find this area just before you get to Marbella Club Hotel. Here, the beach stretches out before villas of different sizes, in a style reminiscent of the Casablanca area mentioned above.

Santa Petronila is in the upper section of this zone, next to the road, while Santa Margarita is in the lower part, next to the beach.

Also in this area, at road level, is the restaurant Villa Tiberio, a pretty villa adapted to offer a quality restaurant service, in an exquisite setting with meticulous gardens.

Las Torres del Marbella Club

This small commonhold with its limited number of exclusive luxury villas is in a private, secure enclave that allows access only to residents. Its entrance is positioned next to the Marbella Club hotel.

Las Torres del Marbella Club

The elegantly designed villas at Las Torres are built on large plots, with the frontline villas being the most sought after.

All along the coast, which is traversed by a promenade that connects Marbella to Puerto Banús, you’ll find renowned restaurants and chiringuito beach bars. In the case of Las Torres, there is even a pier for access from the sea.

Los Verdiales

Just after the Las Torres properties, you’ll find the area known as Los Verdiales. Its villas are very similar in structure and design to the ones at Las Torres, with the only difference being that there is no restricted access.

The villas at Los Verdiales alternate between larger and smaller plots. Like at Las Torres, the beachfront properties are the most spectacular.

Puente Romano

One emblem of Marbella and the Costa del Sol is the five-star Puente Romano hotel. It was built in 1979 by Mouaffak Al Midani, based on the luxury apartment complex that Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe opened to the public in 1974.

Subsequently, the Shamoon family bought the hotel and extended its services and facilities to include conference, meeting and banquet rooms. The hotel precinct offers several restaurants, including the one managed by chef Dani Garcia, and the hotel beach club, with Sea Grill restaurant.

Its sports facilities are worthy of special mention, since they include the Puente Romano tennis club, which recently hosted the knock-out phases of the Davis Cup between the teams from the United Kingdom and Spain, with the Spanish team coming out on top.

In the vicinity of Puente Romano hotel and in a private and discreet setting, there are magnificent villas that are synonymous with luxury and exclusivity, at the heart of the Marbella Golden Mile.

Marina Puente Romano

In the beach section, after the tennis club, you’ll find Conjunto Jardin Andaluz, which, as its name suggests, is a complex of low-rise buildings built in the Andalusian style. They’re home to apartments set in meticulous gardens, at the heart of this exclusive area and with the beach and promenade a stone’s throw away.

Oasis

Moving on towards Puerto Banús and in the coastal zone, you’ll reach Playa del Ancón. This is home to a little urbanization comprising 12 smaller villas, strategically positioned on the beachfront, in this exclusive area.

Surrounding Les Cubes Marbella restaurant, at Oasis Club, with its signature Arabic design, you can see small bungalows and their accompanying gardens, at beach level.

All along the stretch of coast that comprises the Golden Mile, until Rio Verde beach, there are various groupings of villas, beach houses and several apartment buildings like Playa Esmeralda residential complex. This is the planning structure typical of this location, where architects have always been mindful of good taste.

Camoján

Leaving the coastal zone of the Golden Mile behind, we’ll now restart our journey from Marbella but, this time, in the mountain area.

Cascada de Camoján is located north of Monte Paraíso golf course. The area is characterised by low building density and a natural setting, with abundant plant life. Its high enclave above Marbella and the coast means that it has unbeatable views.

In this small area, you’ll find some of the most impressive properties on the entire coast. Here, residents have found the privacy and exclusivity they were looking for, in large plots with extensive gardens. The properties are authentic mansions, and only their residents can see them.

Sierra Blanca

In the foothills of La Concha mountain, a symbol of Marbella, you’ll find the Sierra Blanca area, which is the entire zone west of Cascada de Camoján.

Sierra Blanca has a completely different layout, with much more ordered construction and square plots.

It’s home to countless luxury, exclusive villas complete with the most innovative equipment and unique designs, and enjoying the privacy that is so sought after in this type of property.

In Sierra Blanca, you’ll find residential complexes like Meisho Hills, with spectacular townhouses and independent villas in a private precinct. There are five shared swimming pools, in addition to the private ones that each villa enjoys, and magnificent views.

Sierra Blanca also hosts residential complexes offering luxury apartments and penthouses, like Imara, a gated urbanization with panoramic views of the coast owing to the raised position of its plot.

Lomas de Sierra Blanca

On the road to Istan, after the renowned nightclub Olivia Valere and Les Roches international school of hotel management, you’ll find the Lomas de Sierra Blanca urbanization. This elegant, classic apartment complex has good orientation and the added advantage of being near Le Village shopping centre, home to a full range of services.

Behind the shopping centre, two of the best residential complexes are Jardines de Las Lomas and Lomas de Rio Verde, with high-quality townhouses in a privileged location.

Another of the finest complexes in this area is Epic, a new project to build luxury semi-detached villas with extensive shared gardens and a contemporary design.

Marbella Hill Club

West of Sierra Blanca is Pinar de Nagüeles park. Sitting next to that is the Marbella Hill Club urbanization, a gated, private community, unlike Sierra Blanca. Its private, meticulous and peaceful streets are home to majestic villas and houses with the privacy you’d expect from a community with exclusive access to residents.

Owing to the terrain, this being the foothills of the Sierra Blanca, there’s no sense of the buildings forming part of an agglomeration. This is because they’re positioned at different levels and all of them are surrounded by large gardens.

North of Marbella Hill Club and also taking advantage of the sloping terrain, you’ll find the luxury apartment complex Jardines Colgantes, with its magnificent panoramic views, in addition to complexes of particularly large townhouses.

This entire area enjoys a natural, privileged setting. A gift for the senses.

Nagüeles

The area between the southern part of Pinar de Nagüeles park and up to the road that connects Marbella to Puerto Banús is called Nagüeles.

The upper section of this area is home to residential complexes like Corona de Nagüeles, with its three-storey townhouses and common areas that include swimming pools, sports courts and gardens, and Cortijo de Nagüeles, with townhouses and apartments.

Several villas, slightly smaller in size, pepper this magnificent part of the Golden Mile.

In the lower section of Nagüeles, bordering the AP7 and A7, you’ll find the urbanization known as Hacienda de Nagüeles, with apartments and penthouses in a residential complex with swimming pools and lovely tropical gardens. This is also the case at Los Pinos de Nagüeles and Costa Nagüeles, with its three phases.

La Virginia

Leaving Marbella and heading towards Banús, going northwards, along Avenida de Don Jaime de Mora, you’ll reach a very special complex that conserves the true air of an Andalusian pueblo. You’re in La Virginia.

La Virginia

Bougainvilleas, dense, colourful potted plants, and façades adorned with verdant, flowering jasmine vines are the theme in the central streets that run through this beautiful urbanization of village houses, built in the 1980s.

Working outwards from the centre of La Virginia, numerous villas of different sizes have been built, but always maintaining harmony with the Andalusian style.

El Vicario

To the west of the Hacienda Nagüeles area, El Vicario is another of these semi-hidden spots that go unnoticed because of their size, but that are no less lovely because of this.

This location is home to majestic villas with mature, meticulous gardens, all there for the delight of their owners, with privacy, tranquillity and proximity to the recreational, dining and shopping areas available on the Golden Mile.

Altos de Puente Romano

North of El Vicario is the Altos de Puente Romano urbanization, a private complex with 24-hour security made up of contemporary villas equipped with the latest automated technology, magnificent gardens and spectacular views.

Bordering the AP-7, there are several complexes of quality townhouses, with excellent finishings and the same coastal views thanks to their raised position.

Las Lomas del Marbella Club

One of the most prestigious areas on the Golden Mile, because of its position and history, is Las Lomas del Marbella Club, which is positioned just north of Puente Romano hotel and in the vicinity of Prince Salman’s mosque.

Las Lomas del Marbella Club

A glamorous world surrounds this area, home to the residence of King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, and near Puerto Banús and the two most-renowned hotels in Marbella, Marbella Club and Puente Romano.

At the epicentre of this zone, you’ll find the Andalusian-style complex the area is named after, with its townhouses and apartments.

Among the best residential complexes that comprise Las Lomas del Marbella Club are the Monte Paraíso urbanization, with its apartments and duplex penthouses, Lomas del Rey, a complex of luxury penthouses and apartments of the highest quality, Coto Real, luxury apartments bordering King Fahd’s palace, La Meridiana, apartments and penthouses in a secure, gated complex, La Trinidad, contemporary apartments and penthouses, and Las Lomas de Magna Marbella, houses with a contemporary design in a residential complex with 24-hour security.

The Golden Mile is a very concentrated area comprising countless properties. We think you’ll find our guidance extremely useful to help you make your decision to buy a house on the Golden Mile. Benarroch Real Estate is here to help you find the villa or apartment you’re looking for.
